Initial Visit

At your first appointment we will talk about what brings you in to see me. Usually, that first visit and a shorter follow up visit will be enough time for me to gather the information I need to offer you any feedback about your symptoms and to devise with you a treatment plan. I will always collaborate with your other providers to ensure all members of your team are working together effectively on your behalf. Whether we decide to work together for medication management, individual therapy, or both, my highest priority will be to create a safe and supportive space for you to be seen, known, and understood.

Psychotherapy

Important developmental experiences, elements in our nature, trauma and shame can distort our self-perceptions, and lend toward depression, anxiety, addiction and relationship problems. Psychotherapy is a powerful tool to create a new compassionate relationship with yourself and the people that matter to you.  My work draws on attachment, AEDP, EMDR,  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Interactive Guided Imagery. I also work extensively with couples and families.

Medication Management

If we decide a medication trial seems appropriate, you should know that what matters to me as a discerning physician is that we have a mindful process about what it is that you wish to accomplish. Together we will be evaluating the utility of the medications in your treatment at regular intervals. I will always take care to ensure that you have a good understanding of the potential benefits, and will support you in making the best decision for your overall physical and mental health.  I have a very broad and deep knowledge base, built over decades.  I am extremely diligent about keeping up with the latest psychiatric literature to ensure the safety and utility of your regimen and their impact on any other medical issues you may have.

Consultation and Supervision

In addition to providing on-going care, I offer psychiatric consultations for individuals who are principally obtaining treatment from a primary care provider. I am also able to offer second opinion consultations to clarify a diagnosis or treatment plan. For those training in the mental health field, I have a great deal of teaching and consultation experience for the supervision of your growing body of work.
